Ines Khai is a Guadeloupean singer songwriter, who has always written about the sea. Her 2020 album, Pitit a Lanmè (Child of the Sea), planted the first seed for this book. The story, like the album, is an offering for the memory of the ancestors and the beauty of the water.
When baby Maya is born, Ida tries everything to make her daughter's tears stop but nothing works, until the day she brings her to the sea and realises there is a sacred bond between the women of her family and the water. She will have to reunite with her mother to find out how it started and understand who she is.
